The Academic Performance Indicator (API) is a scoring system used by the UGC to determine the eligibility of faculty members for promotion and recruitment in universities and colleges.

It depends on your university's current adoption of the UGC gazette. Most institutions are currently following the 2018/2019 regulations, but newer 2025 guidelines are being phased in.
